How to get to Utopia.

Are crackpots going to get us to Utopia on Earth?

Well how could you make such a connection?

We I'm using the current scientific definition for people that work on "free energy" devices. Crackpots!
They are only crackpots because they are working on things that fall outside the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics box as it is drawn by current science.
So there might be an alternative alternative power source like aether waves or some other atomic energy like neutron repulsion.
This would only fall outside the 2nd law because the 2nd law does not incorporate that ideology!!!
And anybody that claims science has all the answers is even more of a crackpot. So it goes both ways.

So how does this help us?

If you look at the Venus Project's definition of Utopia, its pretty simple.
Technology frees you from work. Unions and workers are scared of technology only because they didn't take it far enough, and society would need to change.
Science is what the human race needs to advance currently.
And nature is what we need to live.

Science, Technology and Nature. As opposed to Money, Politics and Religion. That is our current society.

So the crackpots working on free energy would be the ones to invent the PPU.
The Personal Power Unit. This concept is the key to Utopia.

It would enable the removal of money from society. How?
A person would not have to pay for power.
It would enable power densities that allow things like Matter Replicators, Teleporters and Space Drives.
It would enable clean transportation on a scale never imagined. Well not quite, sci fi writers have wonderful imaginations.

So my money is on the crackpots to invent the future not "science" as we know it.
